Napkin left in woman's womb removed after second surgery
A man has alleged that a doctor, who had performed a Cesarean section surgery on his wife at his hospital near Aurangabad, had forgotten a napkin inside her womb during the surgery, causing her acute abdominal pain for days after the operation.
Pankaj, husband of the victim Namrata Toshniwal, said that she had been admitted at a private hospital in Waluj near Aurangabad following labour pains.
Namrata underwent a Cesarean surgery and delivered a baby. After the delivery, she returned to her home in Latur. However, soon after, she started experiencing acute pain the abdominal area and her condition started deteriorating, he said.
She was then admitted to a local hospital in Latur, where the doctors said that there was some serious problem in the abdominal area and an operation was necessary. Hence, an operation was conducted on Saturday and a napkin was recovered from her womb, he said.
"It is very serious that even after coughing up thousands of rupees,doctors are neglecting the patients. This would have taken my wife's life, but thankfully, she is now safe," Pankaj said.
"I have requested the Kavthade hospital to hand over the evidences to him, even as the hospital is trying to save the negligent doctor," he said. No complaint had yet been filed by the victim or any of her family members.
