Naked fascism, says Advani
Terming the government crackdown on yoga guru Baba Ramdev “naked fascism,” BJP senior L.K. Advani on Sunday urged President Pratibha Patil to convene an emergency session of Parliament to discuss the issue of corruption and black money.
He also demanded an apology from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the Ramlila incident.
“This is naked fascism. What happened in Ramlila Maidan, particularly, the arrested and women and children participating in the fast being beaten up, reminds me of the Jallianwala Bagh incident in Punjab during British rule. The Prime Minister and Congress president owe an apology to Baba Ramdev and the entire nation for what has happened,” Mr Advani, who was in the city on Sunday to attend the wedding of Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy’s son Rohan with Lakshmi, daughter of Venu Srinivasan, chairman of TVS Motors, said.
Reacting strongly to the incident, the senior BJP leader told reporters that he wanted the President to take cognisance of the happenings in the country since the last six months and convene an emergency session of Parliament.
