Naidu dares TRS on Telangana tour
In the backdrop of statements by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders vowing to not let him tour Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh, TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu Saturday dared his political detractors to stop him from visiting the area.
“No one has guts to stop the TDP in Telangana and I will definitely visit Warangal on January 6 to understand the problems of farmers,” the former chief minister said in an informal chat with reporters at NTR Bhavan.
Rebutting the TRS stand on his visit to Telangana districts, Mr Naidu said his party enjoys popular support in the region.
The Opposition leader further said the TRS managed to get only 11 Assembly seats in the 2009 elections despite tyeing up with the TDP which had campaigned for the former.
Speaking on the ongoing fracas over Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill, 2011, the TDP chief said the government should reintroduce “effective” legislation in Parliament.
“If the government comes up with effective Lokpal, the TDP will support it fully. Otherwise, the TDP will expose the Congress-led UPA government’s designs to perpetuate corruption in the garb of making law,” Mr Naidu said. On the liquor scandal in the state, the TDP chief wanted the Kiran Kumar Reddy government to disclose the names.
