My husband projects me as sex worker, alleges excise employee

The Chennai city police are probing the allegation made by a woman central excise employee that her husband had been trying to project her as commercial sex worker and asked her superiors to transfer her to another city so that he could continue his relationship with another woman.

“We received the complaint from the 35-year-old woman, who is working in Central Excise and is a resident of Choolaimedu,” said the police on Monday.

However, the woman had a tough time getting the police to respond. She had to approach the police twice with petitions before they took her seriously.

The complainant alleged that her husband, who runs a call centre in the city, projected her as a call girl. He used to send messages to her colleagues asking them not to interact with such a woman.

The complainant claimed that she had attempted suicide at least twice, as she was not able to bear his tortuous manner.

The husband started living separately but kept visiting her so that he could take away their two children, the woman said in her complaint.

She said that she had taken a loan for a car and a house, which are being used by her husband.
