Muzaffarnagar curfew relaxed
With the situation in Muzaffarnagar returning to normal, curfew was relaxed for 12 hours on Thursday. People came out of their houses for their daily work and normal traffic was seen on roads.
The curfew imposed in Kotwali, Civil Lines and Nai Mandi areas of the district on Saturday last was relaxed from 7 am on Friday morning till 7 pm, official sources said.
No fresh incident of violence was reported from any part of the district on Thursday. One person was seriously injured after being shot at in Saharanpur.
The local administration had also made arrangements for providing essential commodities to people taking shelter in relief camps with locals also extending help to the authorities. Though officials in Lucknow said that there are some 10,000 people taking shelter in camps, unofficial figures put the number to around 45,000 to 50,000.
