Murder of 2 CMOs solved in one go
UP’s special task force on Friday claimed to have solved the murders of two CMOs in Lucknow with the arrest of three persons from Mandiyahu police station here on Friday afternoon.
Briefing reporters, UP Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh said that the interrogation of the arrested persons had revealed that the murders of the two CMOs, Vinod Arya on October 28, 2010 and V.P. Singh on April 2, 2011, were carried out at the behest of Dr Y.S. Sachan, deputy chief medical officer. Dr Sachan is presently in jail on charges of financial irregularities in the family welfare department that came to light after the murder of Dr Singh.
The Cabinet Secretary said that Dr Sachan, who held charge as the CMO after the murder of Dr Vinod Arya, had committed several financial irregularities in the purchase of medicines and submission of fake taxi bills which were being investigated by Dr Singh when the latter was appointed to the post.
“Dr Sachan sought the help of his friend Ram Krishan Varma who put him on to Anand Tiwari and Vinod Sharma. All three were involved in the murder of Dr Vinod Arya for which they had been paid a sum of `5 lakhs. For the murder of Dr V.P. Singh, they were to be paid Rs. `lakhs and an advance of `50,000 was given to them earlier. Dr Sachan took the shooters to meet Dr V.P. Singh in his office so that they could recognise him and them showed them his house,” the Cabinet Secretary said.
