Mum’s the word for Prakash Karat and co
The CPI(M) general secretary, Mr Prakash Karat, on Saturday said the party would discuss Mr Achuthanandan’s statement in due course.
Mr Karat, betrayed no sense of urgency, saying the party would react on the issue after deliberations. He was replying to reporters' queries in New Delhi on Saturday.
Earlier, the available politburo met and discussed the Kerala shocker and got a feedback from the State leaders — Mr Pinarayi Vijayan, Mr Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and Mr M.A. Baby.
While the matter is slated to be discussed at the party central committee meeting scheduled in Delhi on June 9 and 10, considering the seriousness of the issue the party might advance a full politburo meeting.
Mr Karat’s colleague in the politburo, Mr S Ramachandran Pillai, said, “We’ve no idea about it. We will collect details and discuss the issue. If required we willl make a public statement.”
When asked to comment on Mr Achuthanandan's stand that party secretary’s word was not final, Mr Pillai said, “Let us get word on what happened in Kerala. We have no idea. Now we have nothing to comment,” he added.
