Mulayam tells Akhilesh to refurbish his govt’s image
The Akhilesh Yadav government is now preparing for a major overhaul to refurbish its sagging image. Sources said a blueprint for the makeover was finalised at a late Wednesday night meeting by Samajwadi boss Mulayam Singh Yadav, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, and senior ministers Azam Khan and Shivpal Singh Yadav.
“Besides a major administrative reshuffle in which some top officials may be shunted out for lack of performance, the CM may also rejig his Cabinet. We plan to infuse young blood, and some portfolios (may) be reshuffled,” a top party source said.
Mr Mulayam Yadav is learnt to have done some tough talking at the meeting that ended around 11 pm. He reportedly said the feedback on the government was far from positive, and this could be bad news for the party in the general election.
The general impression, he said, was that the government functioned through multiple power centres and spoke in multiple voices.
He also asked his chief minister son to create the image of being a strict administrator.
