Mulayam remark irks BJP

Former defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav shared the dais with BJP leaders in Jaipur while felicitating Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) detainees on Friday and cautioned people that there are forces who are trying to weaken democracy. A section of the saffron leaders expressed displeasure over it.

Mr Yadav addressed a gathering of MISA and DIR detainees who were jailed during the Emergency. The function was organised by Loktantra Raksha Manch, a representative body of detainees, consisting of pro-RSS BJP and Socialist leaders. The Manch leaders accorded a warm welcome to Mr Yadav.
“We invited and appreciated Mr Yadav because he has done a lot of work for the MISA and DIR detainees, Manch convenor and former MLA Kaushal Kishore Jain said. Mr Jain is known for his affiliation with the Sangh Parivar. When asked, Mr Jain said there was no harm inviting Mr Yadav as he fought against the Congress.
