Mukul Roy’s son yet to be arrested
Subhranshu Roy, the son of Union minister of state for shipping Mukul Roy, has not been arrested till date. Mr Subhranshu Roy is the prime accused in the FIR names on the charge of attacking some EC officials at Bijpur in North 24 Parganas on Tuesday. CPI(M) central committee member Gautam Deb on Saturday once again demanded
that Mr Roy should be arrested immediately. On being asked about the latest development on this issue, state chief electoral officer Sunil Gupta said, “He is yet to be arrested. We have also no information whether he has surrendered himself in a court. Police raids are being continued in search of him.”
According to the police sources, non-bailable warrant has been issued against Mr Roy, who is absconding.
Meanwhile, the EC has expressed its unhappiness over the failure of the police in arresting Mr Roy. “The commission is very serious on this issue and has instructed the police to apprehend the prime accused immediately,” a senior EC official said.
It has been learnt that the state chief electoral officer communicated the instruction of the EC to the district administration of North 24 Parganas and asked to expedite the raids in search of Mr Roy.
