Mp questions S.E. over power cuts
Karimnagar: Congress MP from Karimnagar Ponnam Prabhakar expressed displeasure severe power shortage and irregular power supply in the district.
On Saturday, the MP visited the APTransco superintending engineer office and questioned the SE, Narayana, over the erratic power supply.
He said that patients at hospitals who had to undergo surgeries are facing problems due to unscheduled power cuts. The SE said that the shortage exists all over the state.
He said two units of 500 mw and 200 mw each had tripped at KTPS in last three days. Also 200 mw unit at VTPS and 500 mw unit at Vijjeswaram stop-ped generating power due to various reasons. “There is a shortage of 60 million units of electricity all over the state forcing Transco to impose power shutdown,” Narayana said.
However, the MP said that officials should talk to their higher-ups and maintain schedule for power cuts so as to avoid inconvenience to people.
The MP was pacified when the SE assured to take steps by Sunday to overcome the problem.
Later, speaking to reporters, the SE said that since there was huge gap between supply and demand, power cuts are being imposed. “To protect the grid following reduction in power generation, we have started imposing restrictions,” he said.
