Mother and son killed for water
A mother and her youngest son were hacked to death and their bodies set on fire by the two elder sons over a dispute over drawing water from a handpump in the parched Banda district in Bundelkhand region.
The incident took place on Sunday when a quarrel ensued between Qadeeran and her sons Nafees and Anees. The quarrel took an ugly turn when Nafees and Anees took their mother inside the house and hacked her to death. Their younger brother Rasheed tried to intervene and was also hacked to death by the brothers. After killing their mother and younger brother, the two poured kerosene and set the bodies on fire.
Rasheed’s wife Jamila returned home from a friend’s place and saw smoke coming out from their home. She cried for help and called the neighbours who went in and saw the charred bodies. Blood was splattered on the walls of the room which confirmed that the two had been hacked before their bodies were set on fire.
The police has registered a case against the two accused brothers but both are absconding after the incident.
