Mosque firing: All angles being probed, 1 arrested

A property dealer in Old Delhi was held by the Delhi police’s special cell in connection with the firing incident on Taiwanese nationals on Sunday outside old Delhi’s Jama Masjid with investigations suggesting that ammonium nitrate was used in a crude bomb planted in a car that was parked some distance away from the shooting scene.
Delhi police commissioner on Monday told reporters that the police was investigating the matter from all angles, ruling out the statement made by his subordinates a day earlier that the attack could not have been carried out by terrorist outfits, "We are investigating all the angles. I don’t know who said that," he replied when asked that police officials had ruled out terror angle into the incident.
The police has meanwhile transferred the investigations of car explosion to the elite special cell which has registered a case under different sections of the IPC, arms act and explosives act. We have found traces of ammonium nitrate, two clocks and wires from the device. The upper lid of a pressure cooker and a plastic box was also recovered. There was no RDX or detonators," a special cell officer said.
The police sources revealed that the email statement purportedly sent by the Indian Mujahideen to various media organisations was sent by a cellphone user based in Mumbai and a team of special cell is on the way to trace the suspect. However, the Mumbai police denied it. It was not however clear whether any arrests have been made or not. "We have traced the email to a server in Mumbai. A team is on its way to Mumbai," a special cell officer said.
The police has also sent its teams to Saharanpur and Meerut from where the explosives are believed to have been shipped which were planted in a pressure cooker in a car. The sources revealed that a property dealer based in Chandni Mahal was picked up on Monday morning in connection with the firing incident on foreigners. "His call records were suspicious and it came to our notice that he was consistently in touch with some suspects in Mumbai. He is being questioned by the investigators," a source revealed.
