More murders, rapes in UP
The crime situation in Uttar Pradesh continues to deteriorate at an alarming speed. After a spate of rape cases on Monday, Tuesday proved to be no better.
Unidentified assailants shot dead the owner of a coaching institute in Bulandshahr on Tuesday morning.
The driver of the CMO, also in Bulandshahr, was set on fire by his friends over a money dispute.
In Aligarh, a woman who had been brought to the Punethi police station in connection with a robbery case was raped by two police personnel in the police station. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident but the woman has not been sent for medical examination.
According to police reports, Rahul Kumar, 23, who runs a coaching institute for English and science subjects in Sikanderabad locality in Bulandshahr district, was shot dead on Tuesday morning by two assailants.
Kumar suffered four bullet injuries and died on the spot while the assailants fled on their motorbike. His coaching institute is said to be one of the most popular coaching centres in the city and the police believes that the murder could be a result of rivalry with other coaching owners.
In Bulandshahr, another incident took place on Tuesday morning in which Tota Ram, 44, who works as a driver with the chief medical officer of the district, was set on fire by his friends over a dispute related to `1,300.
Tota Ram had reportedly borrowed the money from his friends but could not return it on time.
The driver, who has received 70 per cent burn injuries, has been admitted to the district hospital where he told reporters that his friend, Guddu Halwai, was responsible for setting him on fire.
