Modi evokes same feeling as Hitler: Ananthamurthy
Why is Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi a big no as the future prime minister for Jnanpith Awardee Dr U.R. Ananthamurthy? The names Hitler and Mussolini evoke the same feeling as Mr Modi, says Dr Ananthamurthy, who reasons out why Modi for PM is not an option for him.
Speaking to reporters at “Meet the Press” programme in Bengaluru on Tuesday, he said: “If you cannot respond to violence immediately you never will. Violence after the partition, the Sikh riots and the Gujarat carnage are all the same as the persons, who were responsible for them, carried out mass violence in a tactful manner. They made violence appear spontaneous so that no one gets punished. So, the debate is not about which party. It’s about growing a heart and state of mind to oppose violence. Modi is a fascist and is treading the path of destructive politics and his development is about making the Tatas and a few corporates bigger.”
“Modi is in a hurry to become PM and has forgotten that this is no presidential system. Dangerous things are happening in India. Modi is holding conferences with retired Army officers and what next? At least India was known to have kept politics and Army as separate entities. India will get over with it (Modi wave). He will not succeed. I am talking about him because media is making much of him,” the writer said on Tuesday.
