Modi criticises without offering solutions: Sibal
Union law and justice minister Kapil Sibal on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and BJP stating that they had a habit of criticising whatever happened in the country without offering any alternatives.
“There is a person called Nirantar Virodhi (Narendra Modi). Have you heard anything positive from him. I spoke about our government (UPA)’s education policy, but has he ever spoken about education,” Mr Sibal said.
Addressing students at a college in Delhi University, Mr Sibal said: “He talks about Gujarat all the time and says he will make ‘India like Gujarat’, but we say we will make ‘Gujarat like India’. That’s the difference (between Congress and BJP).”
He also accused Mr Modi and senior BJP leader L.K. Advani of spreading misinformation and stated that though the duo had claimed that Gujarat was the first state to achieve 100 per cent electrification, according to the 2011 Census, the state was at 15th on the all-India list for the same.
“Maximum malnutrition is in Gujarat, they have the most number of dropouts for any state in the country, but nobody talks about it,” Mr Sibal added.
He also attacked the BJP for disrupting passage of a number of bills.
