Modi, Advani to share dais today
Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and senior BJP leader L.K. Advani will be sharing the stage along with other top party leaders during the BJP’s “Karyakarta Mahakumbh” (party workers’ rally) in the state capital on Wednesday.
Briefing mediapersons about the party workers’ rally at the state BJP headquarters here on Tuesday evening, state Industry minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said: “It will be the world’s biggest political rally and the state BJP has got the opportunity to host it.” Initially they were expecting about 5 lakh participants but after Mr Modi has been declared the prime ministerial candidate, there is tremendous excitement among party workers and about seven-and-half lakh party workers are expected to attend Wednesday’s Bhopal rally, said Mr Vijayvargiya.
Besides Mr. Modi and Mr Advani, other prominent BJP leaders who would be coming to attend the rally are Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, former BJP president Nitin Gadkari, BJP national general secretary in-charge Madhya Pradesh Ananth Kumar and BJP vice-president and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti.
Mr Vijayvargiya said that the Congress is baffled by the massive support-base of the BJP and Congress leaders are levelling baseless charges against his party and its leaders.
Targeting the Congress, Mr Vijayvargiya said they are free to declare their leader Rahul Gandhi as their prime ministerial candidate.
