Mla claims abduction by Maoists
Mystery shrouded an RJD MLA’s reported abduction by suspected Maoists in Bihar’s southern Aurangabad district during his campaigns on Saturday afternoon. While the party denied his abduction after his safe return, the police had launched a search after his family’s complaint.
As Mohammad Nehaluddin, the RJD’s sitting MLA from Rafiganj who is also the party’s candidate there for the upcoming Assembly polls, returned to safety in the evening, RJD spokesman Iliyas Hussain said the MLA had moved into interior villages to oblige insistent party workers and had thoroughly lost contact through mobile phones.
The police started a hunt in Laltenganj area after being informed about Nehaluddin’s abduction from there along with his bodyguard and 10 supporters by dozens of armed Maoists who had also reportedly set his vehicle afire.
Aurangabad SP Vivek Raj Singh and the state police headquarters in Patna confirmed such reports but later it was unclear if it was an incident of abduction and if the Maoists were involved.
