Minor beaten up, gangraped
In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl was brutally assaulted with bricks before being gangraped by four men in Thane.
While the incident took place on Sunday, the traumatised victim informed the police about the incident only on Wednesday.
According to the Wada police, the victim is a resident of Kharivali village in the Wada area of Thane. Her parent works as daily wage labourers.
An officer, requesting anonymity, said, “The victim was in a relationship with the younger brother of the main accused. Since the accused was against their relationship, he decided to teach the victim a lesson. On Sunday, when the teenager was returning home after watching a circus, the accused and three of his friends gagged the victim and took her to a field near her house.”
According to the officer, the accused first slapped her and then assaulted her with bricks, before raping her. The victim was lying unconscious in the field throughout the night. Meanwhile, her parents began looking for her.
On Monday, when the victim gained consciousness, she started crying for help. Her mother, who was in the vicinity, heard her screams and rushed her daughter to the hospital. She initially told the doctors and the police that some unknown people had assaulted her. However, on Wednesday, she and her parents approached the police and lodged a complaint of gangrape.
Anil Kumbhare, superintendent of police (Thane rural) said, “We have registered a case against the accused on the basis of the statement of the minor girl. While one of the accused has been identified, three others are stated to be his friends. All of them are on the run and we are trying to trace them.”
