Militants kidnap three Tripura villagers
Three tribal villagers have been kidnapped by members of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) from Desharaipara in Dhalai district, police said on Thursday.
A group of NLFT ultras raided the remote hamlet near the Indo-Bangla border on Tuesday and kidnapped the villagers at gunpoint, a police report said.
The kidnapped persons have been identified as Pramode Bikash Tripura, 45, Jagat Tripura, 31 and Kanti Tripura, 30.
The Indo-Bangla border has been put on alert so that kidnappers could not sneak into Bangladesh soil, police said.
Senior police officers, including Dhalai Superintendent of Police, visited the spot.
On August 2, two persons were kidnapped from Ratiabari in Chawmanu police station while five more villagers were abducted from Boalkhali village in Gandacherra police station on August 29. Both the villages are in Dhalai district.
The abducted persons have still not been rescued.
