MHA says fully backs Bihar govt
The Union home ministry on Thursday said that it is extending full support to the Bihar government in its efforts to deal with the Naxal hostage situation in the state.
“We are fully with Bihar government. We fully support what they are doing, a Union home ministry spokesperson said on Thursday evening. Earlier in the day, the union home secretary G.K. Pillai said that the Bihar government is trying its best to secure the release of the policemen taken hostage by the Maoists and the Centre is expecting an early resolution of the crisis.
“The state government has been making all efforts to secure the release of the police personnel who have been taken hostage and we are hopeful that there would be an outcome to the negotiations,” he told reporters. Mr Pillai said the whole issue was being handled by the Bihar government. “The state government is negotiating with the Maoists and, therefore, we are extending full cooperation and we hope there would be outcome,” he said.
