MEIRA ACCEPTS LS RESIGNATION
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has accepted the resignation of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee as a member of the House from Kolkata Dakshin Parliamentary seat. The Speaker received Ms Banerjee’s resignation on October 9, and it was accepted with immediate effect. Ms Banerjee, who
heads the Trinamul Cong-ress, resigned from the LS seat after she was elected to the West Bengal Assembly from Bhowanipore.
Ms Banerjee, who was Union railway minister, took over as chief minister in May after Trinamul Congress unseated the over three-decade-old Left Front government in West Bengal.
