Media coverage one-sided: Jethmalani
In what media expected to be a conference for details and information saw known criminal lawyer Ram Jethmalani appealing to media to listen to their conscience. He described the media as “mouthpiece of the CBI” and media coverage as “totally one-sided.
He also reminded media of conscience and asked them listen to it while reporting on the case as even an accused is entitled to a fair trial.
On the CBI’s charges against Mr Shah, he said that the CBI does not know what it is investigating and that all the charges are “concocted” in order to target the BJP government.
When it was pointed out that the Supreme Court had pulled up the Gujarat police for not carrying out investigation in impartial manner, he said, “You wait for a couple of days and see what happens. I will tell you about this later.”
He added in next 10 days he will bring out something that will expose the BJP.
“The fact remains that accused got chargesheet much later but press already had as soon as it was filed before the court,” he said, charging the agency of leaking to the media.
According to him, Sohrabuddin was a dreaded terrorist wanted by the police of four states so his elimination has saved many other lives, as he was a danger to the society.
“If all the cases against him were proved, he would have gone to gallows,” he added justifying the encounter killing.
Regarding the witnesses he said the CBI has got notorious criminals and jailbirds to testify against the police and Mr Shah but their version will not carry any weight during the trial and the case will crumble when the witnesses will be called for cross examination.
