Maya told to hand over cases
The CBI has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to hand over the probe of cases related to adulteration of petroleum products and spurious drugs in the state. Talking to reporters here on Thursday, CBI joint-director (Lucknow) Javid Ahmed said that a high-level nexus was engaged in running these rackets in the state.
“We have requested the state government to hand over the cases to us so that a thorough investigation can be carried out and the guilty persons can be brought to book,” he said.
The CBI official said that many irregularities had been detected during a recent special drive carried out between May 12 to 19 by the CBI on the premises of three transporters of oil companies at Mughalsarai in Chandauli district.
“The CBI has now sent a request to the UP government for transferring three cases registered against the transporters to the CBI for investigation so that the role of the organised gangs in adulteration of the petroleum products which could be having inter-state ramification and the possibility of involvement of the officials of the oil companies, could be investigated,” he said.
Meanwhile, the CBI has also asked the UP government to transfer all the cases related to manufacturing and supply of spurious drugs in the state.
