Maya’s UPA decision today
BSP will announce its decision on continuing support to the UPA government on Wednesday. “The national executive of the BSP will meet Wednesday to decide our position on supporting the UPA government,” BSP president Mayawati said at a rally here Tuesday.
Ms Mayawati said she didn’t rule out the possibility of early elections, and asked her cadres not to get misled by “misinformation” by the Congress and others.
“You must not get swayed by UPA politics, otherwise the UPA government will come to power again and you will face anti-people policies.”
She said the UPA’s “wrong economic policies” were to blame for the situation prevailing in India, and added its “anti-dalit mentality” was evident in the way it delayed the bill on reservations in promotion.
“The role of the Samajwadi Party in getting the bill delayed is equally heinous... I have mentioned details in a booklet that will be distributed at the rally,” she said.
Criticising the rise in inflation, Ms Mayawati said the Centre should tax luxury items instead of raising the prices of items used by the poor.
