Maya has job mantra for ’12
The BSP supremo and UP chief minister Mayawati, is gearing up to hit the campaign trail for Assembly elections in 2012 with over six lakh government job boosters. The BSP supremo is banking on clean and transparent recruitment in state government jobs by scaling up the number on a larger scale to tilt the political fortune in her favour.
Though the UP state administration has created about two lakh jobs in various government departments in the last three years, the BSP supremo is now gearing up to loosen the government job kitty in a big way to the extent of another four lakh and more in about one-and-a-half years left before the state elections is notified.
The move is to cut into size her foe and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, who had been the state chief minister for three terms, which lasted a little more than five years in all. “Mr Yadav gave Rs 500 as unemployment allowance during his three stints as the UP chief minister. His record in creating government jobs had been abysmal. When Ms Mayawati came to power, one of her decisions was to scrap this allowance and in place promised the people that a good number of jobs for the unemployed would be created,” stated a senior BSP functionary, who added that the party would go to the people with this contrast in the 2012 Assembly elections.
If the sheer number of government jobs created and those in the pipeline is not enough, the BSP supremo has given instructions to ensure the process of induction in jobs remains above suspicion. “Earlier recruitments faced allegations of scam, with many landing up at the doorsteps of judiciary. However, the recruitment of 35,000 constables with the help of latest technology to eliminate the human factor has not only been appreciated by political foes but even other states want to replicate the process,” added the functionary.
The UP government is soon to induct about two lakh police constable, 3,500 police sub-inspectors, 1.5 lakh school teachers and a large number of safai karamcharis and Aanganwadi workers. “The six lakhs people getting government jobs through transparent and clean process will impact at least 30 lakh electorates in the state, which will definitely give the BSP a lead among all the political adversaries,” stated the party functionary.
