Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati dropped two more ministers who are facing an inquiry by the Lokayukta on Wednesday.
The ministers who have been dropped are Ranganath Misra, against whom the inquiry has been completed and Badshah Singh, against whom the inquiry is pending.
Mr Misra holds the secondary education ministry while Mr Singh holds the labour ministry in Uttar Pradesh.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the chief minister said that the ministers were being removed from their ministerial positions until they time they are completely absolved of the charges.
“If they are given a clean chit in the probe, I will not hesitate in taking them back,” the chief minister said.
The chief minister also said that a vigilance probe was being initiated against Mr Misra, Mr Singh and former minister Avadh Pal Singh Yadav, who also had to be dropped from the council of ministers on a recommendation by the Lokayukta.
The chief minister had earlier dropped Rajesh Tripathi from the council of ministers after he was found guilty of land grabbing by the Lokayukta.
In the statement, state BSP president Swami Prasad Maurya said that the BSP was the only party in the country that did not hesitate in taking action against its own leaders if charges of corruption and crime were levelled against them.
He listed the names of those leaders against whom the BSP has taken action.
