Marble traders under CBI scanner
At least 10 businessmen, including marble traders of Udaipur and Jaipur in Rajasthan, are under the scanner of the CBI in connection with the alleged fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.
Sources said that these traders would soon be questioned by the CBI. It is believed that the businessmen in question allegedly played an important role in arranging “supari” for Sohrabuddin killing.
“There are reports that Sohrabuddin used to extort money from certain marble traders of Udaipur. Some of the traders, who did not pay to Sohrabuddin, were allegedly threatened of dire consequences. This reportedly prompted traders to arrange money for eliminating Sohrabuddin,” sources said. These allegations are being scrutinised, sources said.
Some marble traders of Jaipur were also reportedly assigned the job of collecting money (supari) from traders of Udaipur in connection with the killing, sources said. Telephone call, as well mobile phone call, details of the traders are being scrutinised, sources added.
Sources further said, “Investigating officials are also probing the role of two politicians belonging to the opposition party in Rajasthan. Investigation by the CBI has revealed that traders allegedly contacted these politicians after arranging supari for killing Sohrabuddin.”
