Many injured as Kalka-Howrah Express derails
Several people were injured when 14 coaches of the Kalka-Howrah Express went off the rails near Malwa station in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday noon, an official said.
More than 100 people are believed to be trapped inside the coaches and efforts are on to rescue them, said a railway official. Senior district administration and police officials are reaching the spot.
Additional Director General Railways A.K. Jain said that the number of injured could be high. Asked whether anyone had died on the spot, he said that there was no such confirmation at this point of time.
General Manager North Central Railways H.C. Joshi said the number of injured was over at least 100.
