Manipur wants CBI inquiry into death of student in Bangalore
The Manipur government wants a CBI probe into the death of a student from the state in Bengaluru as there has been no conclusive finding so far, Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh said.
"We have been insisting upon the Centre to institute a CBI enquiry, as there has been no conclusive finding," the chief minister said about Loitam Richard who was found dead with injuries in his hostel room in Bengaluru on April 19.
The chief minister said to establish the facts and circumstances of the death, the state government has urged the Centre to depute a neutral agency like CBI to probe the case.
The Manipur government was in touch with the Karnataka government to ascertain the circumstances of the student's death, he said.
Ibobi Singh was speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a tree planting programme on Sunday.
Official sources said the government had sent a senior police official to jointly investigate the incident with the Karnataka police.
