Management quota in S-F colleges: Engg entrance made easier for disqualified
Departing from procedure, Kerala Self-Financing Engineering College Management Association will enroll even students without minimum marks in the entrance test under the management quota.
The association general secretary, Mr T.A. Vijayan, told DC that the decision was taken with the concurrence of the state government.
Last year, the association held its own entrance test for admissions to management quota seats. This year, the association would admit students on the basis of entrance examinations conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Mr Vijayan said.
The prospectus says a candidate without a minimum score of 10 marks each in paper I and II of the entrance examinations stands disqualified.
Managements on Wednesday also asked the Government to let them admit students failing to secure the stipulated 50 per cent marks in maths in CBSE standard XII examination.
Many students, lining up for seats in the management quota, had failed to secure 50 percent marks in maths. In Tamil Nadu, students need not have 50 marks in maths to get engineering admission.
