Man kills wife in tiff
A government bus driver killed his wife after she threw away the Rs 2,000 he had given her to buy a sari for Deepavali.
Sankar confessed to the crime on Monday.
Last week, Sankar, after killing his wife Jayasree, 24, had pretended that she had suddenly collapsed and died at home in Thirumangalam in Thiruvannamalai.
“After the RDO enquiry, it was learnt that Sankar had killed his wife in a fit of anger when she threw away the money he gave to her for purchasing a sari for Deepavali. We arrested him on Monday,” the police said.
“When she threw the cash away, I became very angry and I slapped on her face. I also squeezed her throat, after which she collapsed and died,” he told the police on Monday.
Last week, immediately after the incident, he called up Jayasree’s brother, Kumaresan, in Hosur to tell him that his sister had died.
“Kumaresan became suspicious and lodged a complaint based on which an RDO inquiry was ordered,” the police said.
Sankar and Jayasree had been married for five years and have two children.
