Man-eating tiger captured in Karnataka
The ‘killer’ tiger, a nine-year-old male, that had mauled a tribal woman to death in H.D. Kote in Mysore, Karnataka, was captured on Sunday with the help of Dasara elephant Abhimanyu, much to the relief of people living in the periphery of Nagarhole National Park.
On Sunday around 10.30 am, forest officials got information that the tiger was spotted at Bommlapura. The tiger tried to attack the elephant, and the officials had to fire in the air. The tiger was tranquilised around 5.30 pm.
40 personnel from Tiger Task Force and 80 forest personnel from Metikuppe forest range, Veeranahosahalli and H.D. Kote, Mysore, territorial forest launched the operation under the guidance of Project Tiger director B.J. Hosmath and Bandipur National Park director Kumar Pushkar.
