Mamata: CPM suicide squads to eliminate me

Trinamul Congress chief and railway minister Mamata Banerjee made a sensational charge against the ruling CPI(M) on Saturday alleging that it has set up a “suicide squad” to “eliminate” her ahead of the Assembly elections in the state.

“The CPI(M) has become so dreaded that it recently held a meeting along with some members of other political parties having vested interests and hatched a plot on how to eliminate me from the political scene with the help of a suicide squad. They have hired the services of mercenaries for this purpose,” Ms Banerjee claimed.
Asked to elaborate on the role of the “suicide squad”, she explained, “They will kill me and commit suicide. It is not only me but the government also has this information.”
Training her guns at the CPI(M), the Trinamul Congress chief said, “The motive of this plot is that the CPI(M) being coward cannot fight me politically and so they have planned to eliminate me before the Assembly polls.”
Ms Banerjee also alleged, “Some CPI(M) ministers are also involved in this plot. Those who were present in the meeting sought the details of my movement such as which routes I usually take and when.”
Besides her, Subhendu Adhikari is among other Trinamul Congress leaders who is also on the hit list of the suicide squad, she informed.
Asked about her programme at Lalgarh on August 9, the railway minister made it clear that she would go there even at the cost of her life.
“I will definitely go to Lalgarh and the Centre knows it. I do not fear the CPI(M) because they tried to kill me earlier also but failed. If anything happens to me, the West Bengal chief minister, the CPI(M) party and the administration will be responsible for that,” Ms Banerjee said.
She appealed to the administration not to take side of the ruling party.
