Maharashtra protocol minister Suresh Shetty likely to receive Obama
American President Barack Obama is likely to be received by Maharashtra protocol minister Suresh Shetty on his first visit to the metropolis on November 6.
"The state protocol minister Suresh Shetty is likely to receive the US President on his landing in Mumbai. He would be accompanied by Protocol officials from the state and the Centre," state government sources said.
A meeting was held here on Friday between White House officials and chief minister Ashok Chavan to discuss the security and other arrangements during Obama's first visit to the city.
Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, would be coming to Mumbai to participate in events organised for the President, sources said.
Obama would be coming with 1,000 people including private security personnel and the same number of people would receive and coordinate the activities here for him, they said.
An entire US ship would be harboured at the city coast to help helicopters to take off and land for security reasons during the American President's visit.
Over 25 vehicles of US delegates would accompany him in his convoy and about 100 journalists are also travelling with him. However, Chavan's one-to-one meeting with Obama is yet to be finalised, the sources added.
