Madhuri wants land from BMC for dance academy
Actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene has approached BMC for a plot in suburban Mumbai to set up a dance academy. The actress, known for her dancing talent, has requested for the plot somewhere in the western suburbs. The BMC to has accepted her request and has already started scouting for locations. Sources in the civic body have revealed that around 100 plots have been identified between Bandra and Dahisar.
In fact, the Shiv Sena too is supporting her request with standing committee chairman Rahul Shewale and mayor Sunil Prabhu is asking the civic body’s estate and education department to shortlist suitable plots.
Mr Shewale confirmed that a formal proposal has been received by the BMC and efforts are on to assist the celebrity who has recently shifted base from the United States.
Last year, in July, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray along with Ms Dixit had launched the virtual education system of the BMC in civic schools. It is believed informal discussions were held between the star and the political leader back then. She was then asked to come up with a proposal to present her request to the corporation and provide her with the land. It is unsure if the dance academy will be based in one of the BMC-run schools in the western suburbs or on an independent plot. But the possibility of the dance institution within educational premises cannot be ruled out provided she extends her services to civic students.
