Lovers commit suicide in IT office
A senior executive of a software training institute in T Nagar and his lover committed suicide inside the office one after another on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as M. Karthikeyan, 30, of Villivakkam and his girl friend, S. Sreedevi, 28, of Choolaimedu.
According to the police, the woman, after a reported argument with Karthikeyan, went inside a room in the Brindavan Street office and locked it.
When Karthikeyan and his colleagues became aware that something was amiss and broke open the door, they found Sreedevi had hanged herself.
They immediately took her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead. “Hearing this a shocked Karthikeyan rushed back to office and committed suicide by hanging himself in the same room where his lover was found hanging,” the police said quoting the colleagues.
According to the police, Karthikeyan was managing the institute to prepare software graduates for jobs, while Sreedevi helped him out with administration. Both were in love for about five years, police said.
