LK praises Jaitley’s CVC stand

BJP parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani on Tuesday supported the “aggressive” stand taken by Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s recent statement in Jammu on the issue of appointment of Mr Thomas as the CVC.

Sources disclosed the issue was raised during parliamentary party meeting of the party when Mr Advani appreciated the stand taken by Mr Jaitley. Party MPs were also told that Mr Thomas’s appointment was done even after Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj had raised his pending criminal case before the high powered committee, of which she was one of the members.
The issue had created a rift in the BJP, Ms Swaraj said the controversy over Mr Thomas’s appointment should rest following Dr Singh’s statement that he accepted responsibility for the appointment.
