Let people decide on Lokpal: Maya

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati on Wednesday asked members of the civil society to take the issue of Lokpal bill to the people of the country and then let them decide on it in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

“Even if the Lokpal bill goes to the Parliament, I doubt if it will be in accordance with the wishes of the members of the civil society. It will, in all probability, be referred to some committee and then put into the cold storage,” she said.
Ms Mayawati also added saying that it would be better if the people are allowed to choose the right representatives in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections so that the Lokpal bill can be passed and enforced in the right spirit.
