LeT accused’s trial adjourned till Oct. 3
The additional sessions court at Nashik has adjourned the trial in the 2010 conspiracy case, in which the LeT operatives had planned to attack the Maharashtra Police Academy (MPA).
The accused — Bilal Sheikh and Himayat Baig — were produced before the court, which adjourned the matter till October 3. The duo was produced before the additional sessions court judge K.K. Tantrapale on Wednesday for hearing of Sheikh’s application, urging the court to transfer his trial to Mumbai.
However, the court is yet to take a decision on his application and fixed October 3 for the next hearing. Sheikh was arrested by the ATS in 2010 from Nashik’s Satpur locality; 700 gm of RDX, four detonators, a pen drive and a memory card were recovered from him. According to the ATS, Sheikh had visited LeT camps in Pakistan and conducted a recce of the Army’s Deolali camp, MPA and Police Commi-ssionerate in Nashik in 2010. The other co-accused, Baig, was also arrested in 2010 for his involvement in the German Bakery blast. Baig was also allegedly involved in the conspiracy to attack the MPA.

Constable killed IN accident ON EXPRESS HIGHWAY

A 40-year-old police constable lost his life after his car was involved in an accident on the Eastern Express Highway late on Wednesday night.
Prima facie, the police suspects that he rammed into another car that was travelling in front of him and stopped suddenly, resulting in a collision.
According to the Pant Nagar police, the deceased, Prashant Rane (40), was posted at the Sion police station. He left the police station after completing his shift at around 11 pm for his Thane residence. Although there are no eyewitnesses, the collision is believed to have occurred between 11.30 and 11.50 pm near the Vikhroli traffic chowky.
A passing motorist informed the control room that a Tata Indica was standing on the road in a damaged condition, after which a team was rushed to the spot. Rane was rushed to Godrej Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.
A complaint of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered in the case.
