LDF rule utter failure: Church mouthpiece
The Catholicasabha, the mouthpiece of the Thrissur diocese of the Catholic Church published every month, has stated that the Church has not changed its ‘political stand’.
The magazine has also published 13 articles sharply criticising the CPI(M)-led state government in every aspect—be it education, development, and of course, religion. This virtual tirade against the LDF government is significant since the Church had decided not to issue its customary pastoral letter before the Assembly election.
In its write-ups, the magazine states the CPI (M) did not have the habit of learning lessons from experience and was unlikely to correct its mistakes in the future.
The gist of the articles is that the LDF rule was an utter failure.
“The rulers interfered in the activities of the Church, particularly in educational and social spheres,” says one of them.
The magazine urges the laity to vote without forgetting the shame and atrocities the Church had to bear over the past five years.
While Archbishop Andrews Thazhath of Thrissur has urged the readers to safeguard faith and unity, the Auxiliary Bishop Raphael Thattil has reiterated the community and the Church will not ever forget the awful incidents they had to face in the recent past.
The magazine has devoted much space to criticise the Chief Minister, Mr V.S, Achuthanandan, the CPI (M) state secretary, Mr Pinarayi Vijayan and the education minister, Mr M.A. Baby.
