Lalu: Nitish move is just a stunt
Hitting out at Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for his move to return the aid for Kosi floods victim given by Narendra Modi-led Gujarat government, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday said the move is just a “stunt” and has damaged the image of Bihar.
The maverick RJD chief also saw politics in Mr Kumar’s act, as he said, since the Assembly elections are round the corner, the chief minister wants to lure the minorities by “befooling” them.
Intending to pick holes in the chief minister’s attempt to prove his secular credentials, the RJD leader dubbed Mr Kumar and Mr Modi “bhai bhai” (brothers). He questioned why the Bihar chief minister did not show his anger and part ways with BJP all these years if he was really upset over the 2002 Gujarat riots.
“The show of differences between the BJP and JD(U) is nothing more than a stunt in view of polls. It is a mock fight to befool minorities,” Mr Yadav said, adding that Mr Kumar’s act of returning Rs 5 crores to the Gujarat government was a “cheap” decision. “It has hurt Bihar’s image. The aid money did not belong to Narendra Modi but to the people of Gujarat,” he said.
