Koris form Hamara Dal in UP

Caste-based politics may gradually be giving way to development-based politics in Uttar Pradesh but that has not prevented more and more caste-centric political outfits from taking birth.
The latest caste-centric political party to be born is the Hamara Dal, floated by Swadesh Kumar Kori, that caters to the interests of the Kori community.
Swadesh Kumar Kori, who quit the Congress to form the Hamara Dal, told reporters that the Kori community had been politically neglected for decades. “For so many years, the community has patiently waited for its share in politics but almost every party has chosen to ignore us. Now we will walk under the banner of Hamara Dal and show our political strength,” he said. Mr Kori began his political career with BAMCEF that was founded by late Kanshi Ram and then joined the Congress.

10 lakh are jobless in Punjab: Cong
AGE CORRESPONDENT
chandigarh

Nov. 23: Voicing serious concern over swelling numbers of the jobless in Punjab, a senior Congress leader says the failure of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition to provide “gainful and quality employment” to an estimated 10 lakh young people is provoking the best talents in the state to emigrate while thousands are falling prey to substance abuse and other social ills.
Mr Arvind Khanna, who represents the party in the southwestern Sangrur constituency and has been actively running a highly successful voluntary organisation — Umeed — which has helped more than 10,000 local women gain employment and extended healthcare to 4.5 million villagers, says even in its final year in office, jobs for young people remain a dream despite the incumbent regime’s claims of rising investments and industrial development.
“The Akali government affirms high infusion of investments and setting up of new industries in Punjab but propagation of jobs should be more transparent under such investments as even today the deserving remain unemployed in Punjab.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
