Koda aide Binod Sinha held
The CBI on Thursday arrested Binod Sinha, the alleged frontman of the former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, in connection with the probe into the multi-crore hawala racket and illegal investment cases.
According to sources, Sinha was arrested from a farmhouse located in the Mehrauli area of south Delhi. Sinha has been charged with investing money on behalf of Koda in India and West Asian countries including Dubai, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as well as Income Tax. The CBI had filed FIRs against Sinha and another alleged Koda associate Sanjay Choudhary in a special CBI court in Ranchi on August 11 after the agency was directed by the Ranchi high court to probe the case. The CBI also lodged separate FIRs against Koda, six of his former Cabinet members and others on corruption charges.
The CBI has recovered more than 15 SIM cards and some incriminating documents from Sinha’s possession.
According to sources, two sim cards of Dubai have also been recovered from his possession. It is believed that CBI has also detained three associates of Sinha.
