Kochi flash mob calls for peace over Mullaperiyar row
From the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) Rang De Basanti number, the flash mob has now found its way down to Kochi.
People who were enjoying their Christmas shopping at the city’s Oberon mall were in for a surprise on Friday evening, until they spotted the group.
While the CST one was on the anniversary of 26/11, the Kochi flash mob revolved around the Mullaperiyar issue.
A team of 145 youngsters led by Sharath George Benny, an MBA student and Mathew John, a business development manager with a city firm, were part of the event.
The tag line of the event was ‘NO HATE MATE: Not Keralites, Not Tamilians, But Indians’.
"We wanted to give the people perceptive of the issue when the Flashmob in Mumbai happened we felt that it would be the best medium to showcase our message to our brothers in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the rest of India,” said Benny.
Over 150 people joined the ‘mob’ which was dancing to a track from Salman Khan’s 2011 Bodyguard. The mob also played four other songs, ending with Chak De .
Organisers told Deccan Chronicle that the video of the flash mob will be released soon.
