Kerala: Truce in UDF
The “major misunderstandings” between chief minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala have been resolved, and a fragile truce has been effected in respect of the disputes in the Kerala Congress (B).
The two Congress leaders decided to call the KPCC executive meeting on May 2 at Indira Bhavan. Both told the media that the issues between them have been resolved. Chennithala urged party leaders to abstain from making public statements.
Indira Bhavan in Trivandrum witnessed hectic parleys since afternoon with the first round of ice-breaking session taking off between chief minister and KPCC president, and later in the evening with the estranged Kerala Congress (B) father-son duo. The Congress leadership meeting lasted for over half an hour in the presence of UDF convener P.P. Thankachan.
“There were some misunderstandings and all those have been cleared”, said a smiling Oommen Chandy. The differences between Chandy and Chennithala had come upfront following the recent cabinet reshuffle.
