Kerala: Many injured in LPG tanker explosion

At least 20 persons were injured when an LPG tanker exploded on the national highway in the Chala area here, police said.

The tanker lorry was on its way to Kannur from Kozhikode when the incident occurred, they said.

Police and Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and no casualty has been reported so far, they said.

The injured were admitted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital of the district and the Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode, and people living nearby areas have been evacuated to safer places.

Cause behind the explosion is yet to be ascertained.
