Kerala investor meet on December 29, 30
In a follow-up of the Global Investor Meet of 2003, Kerala is planning an investor meet here on December 29 and 30, focusing on medium and small projects in industries, tourism, infrastructure and traditional sectors.
The meeting of reconstituted director board of Norka Roots on Wednesday also decided to hold a major diaspora meet (Pravasi Sangamam) in Kochi on July 14 and 15, 2012.
The Norka Roots CEO, Mr Noyal Thomas, told Deccan Chronicle that the investor meet would tap into the positive spinoff of GIM, which had helped showcase Kerala as a favourable destination for investments, given its rich talent pool and green environs.
The director board also cleared the setting up of an NRI university on 50 acres near SmartCity. Other decisions include issuing of NRK smart cards and a mechanism for skill rating of personnel, who would be given Norka Roots certificate.
Norka would also set up a single-window clearance facility to help entrepreneurs start businesses. The meeting also decided to enhance death insurance amount to NRKs from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
