Kerala to celebrate Id on Wednesday

Muslims in Kerala will celebrate Id-ul-Fitr on Wednesday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan.

The community leaders (Kazis) across the state took a collective decision on the matter as the new Moon was not sighted last night, as was expected.

Anticipating that the Id would fall today, the state government had declared a holiday for all offices and schools.

As Id will now be celebrated tomorrow, the government has announced a ‘restricted’ holiday for Muslim employees. However, all educational institutions would be closed tomorrow as well.
