Keep temple treasure details secret: SC
The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed that details of the treasure retrieved from the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple be not disclosed to the public or the media till the inventory by the expert panel was over.
A bench consisting of Justices R.V. Raveendran and A.K. Patnaik also directed that the treasure found from the temple cellars be videographed.
The bench said the option of setting up a museum on the temple premises or outside to display the articles could be explored by all the stakeholders.
The SC was irked by the public comments made by one of its observers, Justice C.S. Rajan, the other day about the “dazzling” treasure which he saw inside the vaults. In the wake of the new directions from the SC, the panel will have to reopen the five cellars it had examined last week and videograph their contents again.
The panel is expected to hold a meeting here with technical experts on opening the steel door to secret cellar B whose contents are still mysterious. The value of the treasure retrieved so far is estimated to be Rs1 lakh crore.
